Robert Barklie won the Inaugural Open Golf Croquet weekend on 6th and 7th October, beating Simon Williams 6-7, 7-5, 7-4. Their contrasting styles produced a very entertaining final.

The Irish team selected for the above event is:
Ed CUNNINGHAM, Evan NEWELL, Patsy FITZGERALD, Fred ROGERSON, Simon WILLIAMS, Jack CLINGAN (Reserve).

European Croquet Championships 2012

Andrew Johnston from Newcastle Co. Wicklow rounded off an excellent season on the croquet lawns with a memorable win in the final of the European Championships.

Waterville Lake Croquet Society is up and running.
There is one brand new lawn and another lawn which is a converted putting green and they are having the Official Launch and first competitive Golf Croquet tournament on 6th/7th October.

Carrickmines , 1st-2nd September, 2012

This year’s match was held at Carrickmines (by kind permission of the Club) on 1st/2nd September, the first sunny weekend for a long time. The format consists of 15 contests (3 doubles and 12 singles – all best of 3 games). GB won the match 8:5

Gerard has written a very interesting daily diary of the recent Irish Open Championships. It gives an insight into the various levels of competition and it sounds like it was a really enjoyable week which I, for one, am sorry that I missed.
